Issue #45  (An Effortless Way to Improve Your Memory) 12/23/19

I always like articles that talk about improving memory. Of course, it's hard to look up stuff like that without being bombarded by all sorts of spammy sites and questionable products. But this week's list of articles features a 2018 BBC article that offers some useful insight into how you can improve your ability to remember things.

The opening paragraph says:

"When trying to memorise new material, it’s easy to assume that the more work you put in, the better you will perform. Yet taking the occasional down time – to do literally nothing – may be exactly what you need. Just dim the lights, sit back, and enjoy 10-15 minutes of quiet contemplation, and you’ll find that your memory of the facts you have just learnt is far better than if you had attempted to use that moment more productively."

Quiet time after learning can improve memory
The article is somewhat lengthy, but worth a read, as it delves into some of the research that has been done in this area, even going back to the year 1900 when this subject was examined by German psychologist Georg Elias Muller. The full article link is below in the Articles & Resources section.

Now on to this week's hand-picked productivity links!
