Even those who despise LinkedIn can still get sucked into using it, especially when looking for work. But does it really help with finding employment? This question was thrown to the public
on X by someone called Ja Leto, with tons of traction on the post. Although many agreed with the implication that LinkedIn is useless, a lot of the responses are from those who were helped by it.
I personally know someone who was contacted for their current job by a tech startup on LinkedIn. And this was after she had applied to dozens of jobs through LinkedIn and other platforms with no success. And that's something expressed in the responses on the post – that many have found positions by being contacted directly.
So is LinkedIn a net positive for job seekers? Maybe not. But it's certainly helped a significant percentage of them, even if not a majority.
