Existential Dread Due to AI Uncertainty and Pressure?
It’s real, and you’re not alone. C-suites and boards are pushing AI mandates without clarifying strategy, outcomes, or alignment. Teams are at varying levels of fluency, making it hard to get traction with productive AI workflows.

Test Double

Test Double offers confidential pairing sessions with experienced humans who have been there across tough circumstances. Safe space. No judgment.

Book 1:1 Office Hour 🡺

A Hacker News reader asks Senior people, how did your career evolve? When I first saw the title of the post, I assumed it was someone with something like 10 years experience or less. But it's actually someone with about 20 years of software engineering, including full-stack web and indie game development.

Kind of surprising that someone with that experience feels, as mentioned in the post, "a bit lost about what to do going forward." Maybe some of you have felt the same way, even if you don't have as much experience.

Software Engineering

There are comments from readers with a wide range of experience, from 12 years up to 40, so I'm sure you'll find lots of food for thought if you're in a similar rut in your position.

As the top comment points out, the reader who asked the question doesn't want to evolve into a position of leadership, so that will place limitations on how much a person can progress. Nonetheless, it's a good thread for those looking to take new steps in their current niche.

Now on to this week's hand-picked productivity links!
