Catch Accessibility Issues As You Code
Accessibility issues cost 25x more to fix post-release than during development, yet most tools only catch them after the fact. BrowserStack's Accessibility DevTools lints your code for WCAG violations in real-time, right inside your IDE.

BrowserStack Accessibility Devtools

What makes it worth trying:
  • Integrates with Copilot, Claude, and Cursor for fix suggestions
  • Scans rendered components via MCP
  • Blocks inaccessible code at the pre-commit level
Works across VS Code, JetBrains, Cursor, and more. Currently free.

Recently someone on Hacker News asked: Do you also "hoard" notes/links but struggle to turn them into actions? The user is considering building something that would address this need.

I think many of us fall into this category and so we often get swayed by the promise of 'second brain' apps. I've featured many of those in this newsletter, and I'm sure many of you use them.

Writing in a notebook

I really liked the top answer in the thread, because it gets brutally honest about hoarding digital content and not doing anything with any of it:

"At some point, organization can become a form of procrastination. Building a second brain is not Doing The Thing. A note is not an intention. It commits to memory, not to action. I really don't care about having a whole searchable, tagged database; I hardly ever look at those notes again."

This is excellent advice because it prevents us from having the 'hoarder' mentality that often doesn't lead to results, but instead keeps us focused on actually getting somewhere with our research. It also reminds us that we're not 'failing' if we don't use the stuff we saved.

Now on to this week's hand-picked productivity links!

Accordio β€” An AI-powered Mac app for freelancers that includes automatic time tracking, AI chat, e-signature for contracts, invoices, and clients, all accessible from your menubar.

NodeLand β€” A platform that offers a calm workspace that offers a connection-based model for note-taking in the form of mind maps on a whiteboard, effective for learning or compiling research.

Mom Clock β€” A discipline-focused productivity app (for Mac or Chrome) that stops procrastination with strict alarms and app blocking, to ensure you do what you said you would.

Articles & Resources

Traits of a Good Tech Lead β€” If you're currently in such a role or aspire to such, this is a good detailed consideration that also shows how this role is different than an Engineering Manager (EM).

Calendar Rules I Learned From an Executive Assistant (EA) β€” Some very practical and easy-to-follow tips from someone who's entire job is based on keeping things organized and on time. The post also goes into calendar tips from others in addition to the EA.

Music Reorganizes Brain Activity to Enhance Our Sense of Time β€” Based on a study published in the journal Psychophysiology, but note that the study was fairly narrow, involving only young men, and only a single type of music was tested.
