There seems to be an interest in studying how much people are willing to sacrifice in order to avoid working in the office, as opposed to staying remote. Last week I linked to a fairly recent article and study on this topic. There was a similar study published at the beginning of this year that you might also want to check out.

One article discussing it is called Charting the Value of Remote Work: Would You Take a Pay Cut? While last week's study involved 1,400 participants, this one is a little bigger at more than 2,000.

Woman Working Remotely

Here are some fast facts from that study:
  • More than half of workers surveyed wouldn't take a salary reduction
  • 40 percent said they would accept a pay cut of 5 percent or more
  • 9 percent of respondents would trade 20 percent or more of their salaries to avoid the office
  • Women were more willing to forgo 20 percent or more of their salaries compared with men
  • Workers in traditionally in-person sectors were least likely to give up pay
  • Those who said they were least productive while working remotely were also least likely to sacrifice compensation
  • Workers who reported being even moderately productive were willing to accept a salary reduction to continue working remotely
Remote work is a different animal than in-office, so this sort of thing should continue to be discussed. I'm sure we'll continue to see more data on this in the future.

Now on to this week's hand-picked productivity links!
