Issue #35 (The Complete Guide to Deep Work) 10/14/19
I think most of us that are required to do tons of reading in our work have learned to implement some or all of the suggestions in one of this week's articles below, called "How To Read Productively To Learn Faster", by Bryan Ye (link below).
One of the good suggestions he mentions, which I've learned to do more in recent years is under the heading "Read with Your Peripheral Vision":
"The idea behind this technique is that you don’t need to read every word with your macular vision, because your peripheral vision picks up words as well. A huge benefit of this is that it allows you to read without vocalizing every word. You just need to take a glance at what speed readers call a clump."
Naturally, you wouldn't want to do this sort of thing with all reading. Just the stuff you want to more or less get a basic handle on. But it's a good suggestion to practice doing this if you're required to do a lot of reading in your everyday work.
Now on to this week's hand-picked productivity links!
