The ability to increase typing speed is probably one of the most important ways we can increase our overall productivity. I'm not a super-fast typist. I generally peak at about 65-75 WPM, which I feel is too low for someone who works in development or programming.

If you suffer from the same problem, you might enjoy this YouTube video by Ali Abdaal: Full Course – How to Type 3x Faster.

Full Course – How to Type 3x Faster

The video is about 50 minutes in length, so this isn't merely a quick set of tips. He covers specific and practical topics like: The Secret of Finger Placement, How to Build Your Muscle Memory, How to Fix Your Typing Weaknesses, How to Choose the Perfect Keyboard, and others – all part of a 10-chapter video course published earlier this year.

There are some very specific key combinations that always slow me down and give me trouble when typing, so the section on typing weaknesses is a must watch for people like me. I like how he compares typing speed to a couple of popular athletes who overcome their weaknesses using their strengths. He then goes on to show how to use an online tool to help fix weaknesses (check the description for all his links).

Now on to this week's hand-picked productivity links!
