As you can see, this is issue #300 of Tech Productivity, a newsletter I've been sending out every week since early 2019. Although I don't consider myself an 'expert' in the area of productivity, I like to think it's a topic I enjoy researching and sharing about. And I hope that curiosity has benefited some of you.

The fact that I've been able to keep this newsletter up for 300 consecutive weeks (I often schedule issues ahead of time if I'm away), certainly says something about how much content is being produced on this topic, including apps and tools that I share each week.

Do More Computer

This is a small newsletter, so it's not lucrative by any means. Being under 3,000 subscribers can bring in a little bit of revenue, but it's mainly a minimal side hustle. Also, since it only takes me about 3-4 hours per week of work, it doesn't require much of my time. This is especially since I've streamlined my process for finding tools and articles.

It also helps that I live in Canada and the revenue the newsletter brings in is in USD, which is a huge bonus for anyone with an inferior currency!

Well, I hope I can continue to churn out links and resources for you and if you enjoy the newsletter, feel free to share it with others you know who work in tech or who you think might benefit from a subscription.

Now on to this week's hand-picked productivity links!

Articles & Resources

Why Techies Leave Big Tech — From the Pragmatic Engineer newsletter, this covers numerous reasons including big tech being less stable, lack of growth, drop in compensation, among others.

The Hidden Costs of Over-Collaboration — According to the author, "teams get the idea that collaboration is a universal positive, and they promote it so much that they forget to ask why they need so much collaboration to get anything done in the first place."

Full Focus Insider — Weekly insights offering tips on sleep, productivity, health, leadership, calming the chaos of life, goals, and more – to help high achievers win at work and succeed at life.    sponsor

Grasp “Essentially Contested Concepts” For Smoother Productivity — A look at three common “essentially contested concepts” in the workplace and how workers can best approach them.

Cognitive Load is What Matters — This is specifically dealing with confusion that programmers face when reading code, but I like the idea of addressing cognitive blocks in just about any industry.

I Went from Reading 40 Books a Year to Reading 0 — I definitely fall into the camp of the author, reading fewer books nowadays, and many of you might too, so you might find his journey interesting.

A Constructive Attitude Toward Failure — Encouragement to take a 'glass-half-full' viewpoint towards our failures and even going so far as to view our past failures as humorous rather than disparaging.
