Issue #28  (The Remote Work Report) 08/26/19

I just switched email clients on my Windows machine from and older unsupported version of Outlook to Mozilla Thunderbird (first time ever I'm using Thunderbird). I have to admit, while there are still some things I liked about Outlook (e.g. the keyboard shortcuts), switching was fairly easy.

Mozilla Thunderbird

Working off and on for a day or two, I was able to:
  • Set up all my email accounts as separate mail boxes (Outlook did not handle this well for all types of accounts)
  • Import all my Outlook mail, including local archives
  • Install a few useful Thunderbird extensions to help organize stuff
I don't know if I had a better option for an email client, but Thunderbird is doing what I need it to do and I don't see a reason to look any further. So if you're looking to switch email clients on Windows 10, I think Thunderbird is a decent choice that won't cut into your time or productivity much and it seems to be a fairly well supported app.
