A Hacker News reader asks:
Do you have a high level of energy throughout the day? The user explains some of the things he's personally chosen to do to improve his situation when it comes to energy, which has helped him achieve a near satisfactory level of energy but is still looking for ways to improve.
As the top comment points out, it is a very broad question and certainly depends on a lot of factors, both physical and mental. Nonetheless, there are some good suggestions in the thread for those looking to improve their daily energy and hence their productivity.
I'm not a doctor nor do I want to pressure anyone to make any medical decisions but some of the suggestions I liked include:
- Early morning sun exposure
- Low-carb eating and especially avoiding having things like rice or noodles for lunch (which is a sure-fire way to make your body want to nap)
- Using a standing desk for about half the day
- Make sure you're getting enough protein and other nutrients (especially if you choose a diet that can be deficient in certain things)
- Some form of exercise
Some also mention use of caffeine but feel free to ignore the person that says they drink 20 cups of Folgers coffee before 2pm each day! I can't even believe that's a real comment but it is from what seems to be a throwaway account.
As other point out,
desired energy level is definitely something that varies from person to person. Some people (myself included) are more than happy to have some down time (like a nap) in the middle of the idea without the need to be constantly "on", while others feel more pressure to be like a train that makes no stops. Whatever the case, maybe something in that thread will help you.
