A user on The Workplace category on Stack Exchange asks:
Unable to focus on programming around 3-4 PM every day. How can I fix this?
If you're like me, then as soon as you read that headline you immediately said out loud, "Join the club!" It's really not unusual to feel this way, especially as you start to age. In many countries, it's basically expected that things shut down in the middle of the day, often due to the heat. Of course, a cushy programming job in an air conditioned office is not exactly the same as working out in the sun.
But it's still something to keep an eye on and determine if you think it needs to be fixed. There's lots of good advice in the thread but I like this thought from the top answer:
"One factor is lunch – try not to eat anything too big or heavy for lunch, as your body will divert energy into digestion. Also, try and get out in the fresh air for a bit in the middle of the day to recharge. A 15-20 minute break in the day is the bare minimum – you should try and get away from the computer for up to an hour (and try to avoid surfing or socialising on the phone, too - but it's okay to have a real conversation with someone)."
All of that advice should help avoid that near-mandatory tired feeling you get at a certain hour of the day and should help you stay as productive as possible.
