Issue #138 (Use Science to Focus at Work) 10/04/21
If you're a big sports fan and you follow a particular team, I'm sure you can agree that some of your least productive days are the ones where your team is on the verge of something big – and you just have to set aside three to four hours to, you know, support the team.
Well, that was my past week watching Major League Baseball. I live in Canada, so I'm a Blue Jays fan. The Blue Jays didn't make it, but it was a pretty memorable week or so.
Could I have done something more productive over the past week? Of course, but that's fine. Baseball is the only sport I follow closely, so I'll be mostly sports-free until next April when the masochistic struggle begins anew.
The lesson? There's nothing wrong with being passionate about something that's somewhat unproductive, as long as it doesn't take over all your free time that could be spent with family or dealing with other more important non-work matters.
Yes, that's what I'm telling myself and you can't change my mind! 😜
Now on to this week's hand-picked productivity links!
