Issue #109  (E-mail Is Making Us Miserable) 03/15/21

I don't know why but it seems in the last few years the tech industry has an obsession with dark mode. Or, at the very least, the option to choose dark mode in specific circumstances.

The Nielsen Norman Group, famous for their UX studies, did an article on this subject a little over a year ago that you might enjoy if you're wondering about the overall effectiveness of using dark vs. light mode.

Dark Mode vs. Light Mode

Their summary reads as follows:

In people with normal vision (or corrected-to-normal vision), visual performance tends to be better with light mode, whereas some people with cataract and related disorders may perform better with dark mode. On the flip side, long-term reading in light mode may be associated with myopia.

So there's no clear-cut "winner" in this, it really all depends on the circumstances of the individual. The article contains much more data if you want to delve into the subject more deeply.

Now on to this week's hand-picked productivity links!
